The process

How selling surplus wire works

Four steps from the first photo to a loaded truck. Nothing moves until pricing and logistics are agreed.

Step one: send the details and photos

Start with the quote form or a phone call. What we need is the wire type, the conductor metal, the size, the approximate footage, the condition and the packaging. Photos do most of the work: a readable reel tag, the printed legend on the jacket, the cut end and a wide shot of the stack.

If you are unsure what the wire is, describe what it was used for. Cable removed from a conveyor, a service upgrade or a controls panel is easier to identify from context than from a part number.

Step two: we review the material

We look at construction, condition, quantity and how the material is stored. If something is unclear we ask — a missing tag, a damaged reel flange, a length that is not marked. We will tell you which of those actually matters for your lot rather than sending a generic checklist.

Review is a conversation, not an automated quote. There is no published price list because two reels of the same size are rarely worth the same thing.

Step three: discuss pricing and logistics

Pricing depends on the construction, the metal, the size, the remaining length, the condition and the quantity. Logistics depends on where the material sits, what can load it and when the site is accessible.

We talk through both before anything is committed. If pickup does not make sense, shipping may. If neither makes sense, we say so.

Step four: arrange pickup or shipping

When both sides agree, we arrange the move. That may be a pickup at your dock, a flatbed loaded on site, or freight from a terminal. Large reels need reel diameter and approximate weight so the right equipment is arranged.

You keep the wire until it is agreed. Submitting a form does not commit you to sell, and it does not guarantee an offer or acceptance.

What we do not buy

This site is about wire and cable only. We do not buy transformers, switchgear, breakers, motor control centers, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery, vehicles or general scrap, and we do not provide demolition or cleanout services.

Photographing wire properly

  • Photograph the reel tag straight on, close enough to read the printing.
  • Photograph the jacket legend along the cable, not across it.
  • Photograph one cut end so the conductor and insulation layers are visible.
  • Take one wide photograph of the whole stack or shelf for quantity.
  • Photograph damage honestly — crushing, abrasion, water exposure, missing flanges.

If a photo is out of focus, send it again rather than guessing at the details. Misread wire size is the most common reason a review takes an extra round of messages.

Sell your surplus wire

Send the details and photos

Tell us what you have and where it sits. Reel tags, jacket legends and a photo of the whole stack are usually enough to start a real conversation.
