Wire we buy
We Buy Surplus Medium and High Voltage Cable in South Dakota
5kV through 69kV shielded power cable, EPR and XLPE, single and three conductor.
Medium and high voltage cable is bought on reels, priced on construction, and almost always tied to a substation, utility, wind or industrial project that changed. A reel of 15kV shielded cable is a significant piece of material, and the details matter: voltage class, conductor size, insulation type, shield, jacket and the footage left on the reel.
We buy 5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV-and-above cable in EPR and XLPE, single- and three-conductor, with copper tape shields, wire shields and concentric neutral constructions. Send the reel tag and the full jacket print first.
What we buy
- 5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV+ power cable
- EPR and XLPE insulated, shielded medium-voltage cable
- Single-conductor and three-conductor constructions
- Concentric neutral and URD-style underground cable
- Copper and aluminum conductor, 1/0 through 1000 MCM and larger
- Full reels, partial reels and short lengths where the construction is identifiable
Sizes, ratings and packaging

Medium-voltage cable has to be reviewed on the reel tag. Voltage class, insulation level, shield type and length cannot be read reliably from a photograph of the stack, so include a close, readable photo of every tag.
Cut lengths of medium-voltage cable are welcome when the ends are sealed and the construction is identifiable. Cable ends that have been open to moisture for a long period are a different conversation, so describe how they were stored.
How to send it for review
Use the quote form on this page or call (614) 715-3047. Include the wire type, size, conductor metal, approximate footage, condition and packaging, plus photos of the reel tag, the jacket print and the cut end. If the material came out of a specific project, say what it was — it explains the lot faster than a description alone.
We review medium- and high-voltage cable from across South Dakota and reply with questions or a next step. Nothing is committed until pricing and logistics are agreed.
Questions about Medium & High Voltage
What do you need to price a reel of 15kV cable?
The reel tag, a close photo of the jacket print, the conductor size and material, the shield type, and the footage left. If the tag is missing, tell us what the cable was installed for and photograph the cut end so the layers can be seen.
Do you buy concentric neutral URD cable?
Yes, in 15kV and 25kV classes, along with tape-shielded and wire-shielded constructions. Tell us the conductor size, the neutral stranding and the length on the reel.
Can you handle large reels?
Tell us the reel diameter and approximate weight, and whether there is forklift or crane access at the pickup location. Logistics for large reels get planned before anything is moved.

Send the details and photos
Tell us what you have and where it sits. Reel tags, jacket legends and a photo of the whole stack are usually enough to start a real conversation.

Need a straight answer on this material?
Describe the wire and where it is stored. We will tell you what we need to see, and whether the lot is something we can work with.
