Wire we buy
We Buy Surplus Control and Instrumentation Cable in South Dakota
Multiconductor control, shielded instrumentation and paired signal cable.
Control and instrumentation cable is where plant work leaves the most orphaned inventory: 18 AWG and 16 AWG multiconductor, twisted pairs, overall-shielded instrument cable, thermocouple extension wire and tray-rated control cable, usually on small spools that are easy to overlook.
We buy those spools and reels in copper, from 2-conductor up to 37-conductor, shielded or unshielded, 300-volt and 600-volt. Because these lots are often small and mixed, a single photo of the shelf and the printed legend on each spool is the fastest way to get an answer.
What we buy
- Multiconductor control cable, 300V and 600V, tray-rated and non-tray
- Instrumentation cable with overall shield, individual shields or both
- Twisted-pair signal cable and drain-wire constructions
- Thermocouple extension wire and RTD cable
- Numbered-conductor control cable from 2/C up to 37/C
- Small spools, partial reels, cut lengths and mixed shelf lots
Sizes, ratings and packaging
- Conductor sizes#22, #20, #18, #16, #14 and #12 AWG
- Conductor counts2 through 37, plus multi-pair constructions
- Voltage class300 volts and 600 volts
- ShieldingUnshielded, overall foil, braided, individually shielded pairs
- Packaging we see100 ft to 1,000 ft spools, partial spools, cut lengths, boxed coils
Mixed shelf lots are welcome. Photograph the whole shelf, then close-ups of the spool labels that matter most. We will come back with questions about anything unclear rather than rejecting the lot.
Control cable is priced on conductor size and count, shield type, voltage rating and remaining length — not on the colour of the spool.
How to send it for review
Use the quote form on this page or call (614) 715-3047. Include the wire type, size, conductor metal, approximate footage, condition and packaging, plus photos of the reel tag, the jacket print and the cut end. If the material came out of a specific project, say what it was — it explains the lot faster than a description alone.
We review control and instrumentation cable from across South Dakota and reply with questions or a next step. Nothing is committed until pricing and logistics are agreed.
Questions about Control & Instrumentation
Can I send one photo of a shelf of mixed spools?
Yes, and it is often the best start. Send a wide shot of the shelf plus close-ups of any spool labels you can read, and note roughly how many spools there are. We will tell you which ones we need detail on.
Do you buy thermocouple wire?
Yes, when it is identifiable. Thermocouple extension wire and RTD cable are part of the instrumentation category. Photograph the printing on the jacket so the type and calibration can be read.

Send the details and photos
Tell us what you have and where it sits. Reel tags, jacket legends and a photo of the whole stack are usually enough to start a real conversation.
